History
Sugan Niwas is a colonial place built in the early nineteen forties by Late Thakur Bhagirath Singhji of Khatipura. His son Thakur Arun Singh, the present owner converted it into a Heritage Boutique Hotel. Thakur Arun Singh belongs to the Tomar clan of Rajputs who ruled over Delhi and Gwalior. Rao Bahadur Raja Jeevraj Singhji of Reri (Great Grandfather of Thakur Arun Singh) settled down in Jaipur in 1922. He was the father in law Maharaja Sawai Madho Singhji II of Jaipur.
His son Lt. Col. R.K. Ranjit Singhji OBE was an outstanding polo player from 1902 till 1931. Arun Singh is a Hotelier by profession. Sugan Niwas Palace was extensively renovated by him and his wife Thakurani Geetika Kumari Great care was taken to maintain the colonial character of the palace. Family memorabilia and portraits adorn the private sitting rooms of the family.
